Maya Candler<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Maya is an emerging multimedia artist with roots and practice on the Indigenous lands of Treaty 6, also known as amiskwac\u00eew\u00e2skahikan (Edmonton). Maya graduated the University of Alberta\u2019s Bachelor of Fine Arts program in 2018 and continues to foster a strong practice based in textiles, sculpture and other mixed media. Maya\u2019s work explores the realms of her experience with mental illness, identity, and health through methods of sewn storytelling. With the support of The Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Edmonton Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts Maya has continued to create and show work within western Canada working collaboratively with multidisciplinary festivals and studios.
