Did you know stress can be imaged? These two microscopy images, Eustress or Distress? <\/em>and An Angle of Observation<\/em> show the eye of a zebrafish larvae under threat.\u00a0 Calcium, a crucial signaling molecule, mediates stress responses and communication within and between neuronal cells. It can be visualized using specific dyes. In the Eustress or Distress?<\/em> calcium (red stain) rushes into the cells when the eye perceives a threat, triggering a \u201cfight or flight\u201d response and adaptation to stress. In An Angle of Observation<\/em>, the green puncta represent channels that transport calcium, neatly arranged on the surface of cells in the zebrafish\u2019s eye, ready to respond to stress.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
