Pointillism/black pen/mixed media

This portrait is composed almost entirely of written words. You rarely make out their meaning, and they are not very noticeable, until you look closely. This is the same with mental illness. I have composed the entirety of this piece with black pen, using both dots and words that relate to mental illness to create an image of a woman. The piece is simple and subtle; it is meant to represent all of us who are secretly and very often invisibly struggling with mental illness.
