Disenfranchised grief refers to any grief that is unacknowledged by social norms. This kind of grief is frequently minimized or not understood by others, which makes it hard to process and work through. This image is from an exhibition called “Song for Sean; A Grief Journey” which was about the loss of self that occurs when someone you have loved succumbs to mental illness.
