Homesickness can have a very strong impact on our brain. This piece shows photographs of the artist’s friends, grandmother and places that represent the memories she associates with a particular time. The photographs are displayed where the amygdala is located, near the lower center of the brain. The amygdala stores memories charged with emotions. When the brain is depressed, the dark areas dominate and the bright ones are very few. Hence the dark brown colour which is complemented by light brown patches in the artwork.
